Hero Down: U.S. Border Patrol Agent Rogelio Martinez Murdered

U.S. Border Patrol Agent Rogelio Martinez, 36, was murdered on Sunday, Nov. 19. Agent Martinez and his Big Bend Sector partner, another U.S. Border Patrol agent whose name was not released, were on patrol in the Interstate 10 area, and responded to a report of "activity," according to Fox News. At some point, they were attacked by an unknown suspect or suspects.

Police Officer Brian Shaw New Kensington Police Department, Pennsylvania End of Watch: Friday, November 17, 2017 Police Officer Brian Shaw was shot and killed while making a traffic stop of a vehicle in the 1200 block of Leishman Avenue at approximately 8:00 pm. The driver fled on foot during the stop, then opened fire on Officer Shaw as he pursued him.

Last month, eleven law enforcement officers gave their lives in the line of duty in the United States.  Of those deaths, five were the result of gunfire, three were the result of assault, one officer drowned, one died in an automobile crash, and one died as the result of a heart attack. Deaths took place in eight different states.

A man dressed in black tactical-style gear and armed with an assault rifle opened fire inside a church in a small South Texas community on Sunday, killing 26 people and wounding about 20 in what the governor called the deadliest mass shooting in the state’s history. The dead ranged in age from 5 to 72 years old.

A fugitive who fatally shot a New Mexico officer during a 2016 traffic stop was sentenced to life without parole Thursday. Jesse Hanes took a plea deal in May and pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the death of Officer Jose Chavez, KOB News reported. Hanes and passenger James Nelson were wanted for a fatal shooting in Ohio when they were pulled over by Chavez in August of 2016.

The massive facility was opened Tuesday night and can house up to 10,000 evacuees, according to Houston media.
