Robert E. Duff

Robert E. Duff of Hatboro passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78.

Robert was the beloved husband of Joanne M. Duff, with whom he had shared many years of happy marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Earl S. and Elizabeth (Dunlap) Duff.

Robert served his country for 12 years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Military Police Officer.

After his honorable discharge, Robert began his 36-year career as an Upper Moreland Police Officer, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. Upon retiring, Robert worked as a security guard for the last 15 years, retiring last December.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by two sons, David and his wife, Nancy, and Michael and his wife, Mary, all of Upper Moreland; a daughter, Megan Bitterlich and her husband, Richard, of Warminster; seven grandchildren who were the light of his life; a sister, Marlyn Reichter of Fort McCoy, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by a son, Philip.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing after 9 a.m. on Monday at Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church, 300 S. York Rd., Hatboro, PA 19040, and are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. His interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park Cemetery, Prospectville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's memory to either Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church at the above address or Davisville Church, 325 Street Rd., Southampton, PA 18966.
