Robert A. Calhoun, Sr. of Plymouth Meeting, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday February 21, 2012. Born March 4, 1952 in Philadelphia, he was the son of Marie (nee Pantle) Calhoun and the late Alfred B. Calhoun and the beloved husband of Evelyn (nee Simonds) with whom he shared 41 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his son Robert A. Jr and his wife Kimberly of Plymouth Meeting and his daughter Gina Calhoun of Conshohocken as well as three grandchildren Ryan, Justin and Jake.

Officer Calhoun began his career serving the public in 1978, when he started working as a guard at the Montgomery County Prison. In 1981 Officer Calhoun joined the Montgomery County Sheriffs department. While working with the Sheriffs, Bob also started working as a part time police officer with Plymouth Township in 1982. Bob worked double duty until 1986, when he started working part time in Ambler Borough. Thirteen months later, Robert Calhoun was hired full time bringing his past nine years of law enforcement experience and service to the community of Ambler Borough. While serving in Ambler, Bob took on the roles of department's Firearms Instructor, Traffic Safety Officer, and Accident Reconstructionists until his retirement in 2011. Bob was a member of both the FOP Montgomery County Lodge #14 and the Grace Lutheran Church in Norristown and the Blue Knights of Montgomery County.

Relatives, friends and fraternal brothers are invited to Bob's Life Celebration service on Friday February 24, from 6 to 9 PM at Boyd-Horrox of East Norriton 200 West Germantown Pike 1-800-GIVNISH and on Saturday from 9 to 9:50 AM at Grace Lutheran Church 506 Haws Ave. Norristown. His funeral service will begin at 10 AM at the church. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery.
