Louis A. Machalette, Jr.

 

Louis A. Machalette Louis A "Lou " Machalette of Oreland, died July 11th. He was 88.

Lou was an Army paratrooper during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After the service, he worked for Reading Railroad until moving to Oreland and becoming a police officer. Lou was Chief of Police in Springfield Township until 1978. Upon retiring from Springfield, he went to work as Director of Security for Marriott Corporation on City Line Ave.

Upon retiring from the Marriott, he went to work for Montgomery County as an investigator for the public defender. He retired in 2003 at the age of 80.

Lou is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, a sister Theresa, three sons-Mike(Betsy), Jeff(Gail), Chris (Wendy) and two daughters, Betsy Ruch
(Bill) and Ivy Harper, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister and a grandson, Ryan Machalette.

A memorial service is planned for, Monday July 25th, at the Heritage Chapel of George Washington Memorial Park, 80 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, Pa. Family visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm. Interment will be private.
