Edmund R. "Smokey" Fenyus
Edmund R. "Smokey" Fenyus, 78, husband of Dorothy (Lowther), of Honeysuckle Lane, Oaks, on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of the late Robert S. Fenyus Sr. and Helen (Gawel) Fenyus. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School, Norristown and was the former Upper Providence police chief from 1970 to 1991 and began service on the force in 1965. He was a Korean War Navy veteran serving on the USS Warrington DD 843 and was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Phoenixville. Ed worked many years at the Perkiomen Cafée which was owned by his parents. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, Oaks Fire Co., and the Phoenixville VFW. Surviving are sons, Don Fenyus of Stowe, Stephen Fenyus of Oaks; daughter, Coleen, wife of Carmen D'Archangelo of Malvern; brothers, Robert S. Fenyus Jr. of Kimberton, Daniel J. Fenyus of Philadelphia; sister, Helen M. Gadonas, Kimberton; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jeffrey, Joseph and Marielle; great-grandchildren, Kegan, Madison, Cameron, Jamison and Carman. He was predeceased by a son, Edmund R. Fenyus Jr.; brother, Joseph Fenyus; sister, Irene Hakun and daughter-in-law, Deborah (Schwindt) Fenyus. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Holy Trinity Church, 219 Dayton St., Phoenixville. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Church Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church, 219 Dayton St., Phoenixville, PA 19460.
