Robert T Boutcher

 

Robert T. Boutcher, 79, of Sellersville, formerly of Holland Township, NJ, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at his residence.

Born: in Abington, he was the son of the late Parry and Tacy Esther Ambler Boutcher. Personal: He was the beloved husband of Ann Stamets Boutcher for 51 years. Bob was a 1950 graduate of Abington High School. He was an Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War. He also served in Navy Seabee Reserves.

He was the chief of police for Holland Township, NJ Police Department for ten years, serving as the first full-time chief. Prior to that, he was employed by Abington Township Police Department for twelve years. After his retirement, he was the supervisor of security at Gulfview Mall, New Port Richey, Florida. An avid woodworker his entire life, Bob especially enjoyed cabinetmaking. Memberships: Mr. Boutcher was a life member and assistant fire chief of the Abington Volunteer Fire Company; a life member of the Keystone State Fire Chiefs Association; the Fraternal Order of Police; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, most recently at the Forrest Lodge, Post 245; and the American Legion, most recently at Nase-Kraft Post 255, both of Sellersville; he was a Master Mason, of the Concordia Jenkintown Lodge #67 and a 32nd Degree Mason, of the Valley of Trenton; he was also a Shriner, of the Crescent Temple, Trenton.

Survivors: In addition to his wife; two sons, Tyson Boutcher, of Kennesaw, GA, and Jim Boutcher and his wife Theresa, of Martinsburg, WV; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother Donald Boutcher of Conway, SC; and three sisters, Edith Rapp of Ferndale; Patricia Kaiser of Mountaintop; and Joanne Detweiler, of Danboro.

Services: Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010, in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Abington Fire Company, 1920 Horace Avenue, Abington, PA 19001. Arrangements are by Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, Sellersville
