Salvatore J. Barbone Salvatore J. Barbone, 79, a retired police sergeant, died suddenly on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Barbone, a resident of Trooper, was employed by the Lower Providence Police Department for 25 years. Born in Bridgeport on October 14, 1929, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Philomena (Capone) Barbone. He was a member of Visitation B. V.M. Church of Trooper. He was a member of the FOP Lodge No. 14, Triple "S" of Bridgeport and The Lansdale Senior Citizens. He was a graduate of the former Bridgeport High School. Mr. Barbone was a Marine Corps. veteran of the Korean War. He attained the rank of sergeant. He enjoyed gardening and restoring furniture. In addition to his wife, Leona (Bengen) Barbone, he is survived by two daughters, Catherine Partow and her husband Richard of Collegeville, and Christine Barbone, of Lower Providence; two grandchildren, Christopher, Scott, Brian and Samuel; two sisters, Edith Barbone, of Bridgeport and Carmella Dowlin, of West Chester, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Grace Carfagno; and two brothers, Michael and Nicholas Barbone. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in Visitation B.V.M. Church, Trooper Road, Trooper. The Rev Monsignor Thomas A. Murray, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia. Relatives and friends may call on Monday morning from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the church. The family requests memorial contributions be made to The American Heart Assoc. 625 W. Ridge Pike, Conshohocken PA 19428. Arrangements are by the Bernard S. Gutkowski Funeral Home Inc. of Swedesburg, Upper Merion Township. |
