Warren H. "Skip" Harner Sr


Skip Harner, 87 of N. Fort Myers passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2008. He was a resident of Florida for the past 28 years.

Skip is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Jane and their two sons and families. Warren and Lisa Harner, Renny and Erin of Steamboat Springs CO; and William and Lindsley Harner, Billy and Jessica of Mechanicsburg, PA.

Skip was born on March 8, 1921 in Germantown, PA. He committed his life to service to the nation and his community. Skip served in the U.S. Navy during War II in Florida and North Africa. Later, he graduated from the PA Institute of Criminology and earned a degree from Temple University in Police Science & Administration. For 34 years, Skip rose through the ranks as a police officer, in Abington and Cheltenham Townships, PA. He served for eight years as Chief of Police in Cheltenham and past-President, PA Police Chiefs Association. Skip was a Mason in Jenkintown, PA and a former member of Arba Temple, Fort Myers.

His memorial service is Wednesday, at 2 PM, December 10th at Faith Presbyterian Church on 4544 Coronado Parkway in Cape Coral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Alzheimer's Foundation of America. www.alz.org.
