James S. Blake
1954 - 2008 Officer James S. Blake of North Wales, Pa departed this earth on Friday morning December 5, 2008, peacefully at home, surround by his loving wife and children. Born, James Stansbury Blake, June 4, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pa. to James and Thelma Stansbury Blake. James (Bobby) was the youngest of their two children and the only son. In 1981 his beloved father James Blake preceded him in death. He was educated in the Philadelphia School District and then the Wissahickon School District. Jimmy attended Stony Creek Elementary; Shady Grove Jr. High and graduated Wissahickon Sr. High School in 1971. Jim was hired as a Whitpain Police officer on October 1, 1979 and completed his training with the Pennsylvania State Police and graduated in 1980 with his credentials to serve as a police officer. Jim has honorably served the citizens of Whitpain Township for over thirty years. First, as a young man, on the township road crew and, for almost 30 years as a Patrol Officer on the Police Force. He was a member of the F.O.P. Lodge 14 of Montgomery County, Montgomery County Black Police Officers Assoc., and the Whitpain police Assoc. Additionally, he has provided detail and other protective services for the Montgomery County Community College; local banks and other businesses in the area. Jim has received numerous citations and awards for his many acts of bravery and for going above and beyond the call of duty. Among his hobbies are collecting miniature cars; riding his large motor cycle and spending time with his family in the Pocono Mountains and on the Chesapeake Bay. James is survived by his beloved wife Debra P. (nee Radcliff) Blake, his mother Thelma S. Blake of Blue Bell, and his children James S. Blake Jr. of North Wales, Vanessa N. Blake of Philadelphia, Heather J. Radcliff of Philadelphia and Jason A. Blake of North Wales. He is also survived by his sisters Pamela Blake Welmon of Media and Lois Young of Blue Bell, his grandmother, Helen Stansbury of Aberdeen, Maryland and his grandson, Stephen Canady II.
