Edward Bucha
Mr. Bucha, a resident of Bridgeport, was employed as a police officer for the Boro of Bridgeport. After retirement he then became a security guard for the former Sacred Heart Hospital. He was a member of St. Augustine Parish and the former Slovak Catholic Parish of Our Mother of Sorrows of Bridgeport. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3327, Catholic War Veterans Post #1683 of Bridgeport, Bridgeport Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #840 and the Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 14. Mr. Bucha enjoyed volunteering at the Camelot Bingo nights and enjoyed playing bingo with his fellow veterans at the veterans center. He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan, loved country music and attending flea markets. He enjoyed telling jokes to his family and friends. He was a graduate of Our Mother of Sorrows Parochial School and the former Bridgeport High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II, serving with Company A 264th Medical Battalion in Central Europe and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, The American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and The WW II Victory Medal. Born in Hawk Run on December 9, 1922, he was the son of the late John A. and Anna (Adams) Bucha. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Misko) Bucha. Surviving are his loving daughters: Mary Estright and her husband Gregory of Norristown and Anne Bucha of King of Prussia. Granddaughters: Christina, Jennifer and Kaitlyn Estright; Brother, Alfred Bucha of Trooper; Sisters: Mildred Fabrizio of Bridgeport, Anna Mae Dalosio of King of Prussia and Helen Burns of Bridgeport. He was preceded in death by a brother, John 'Jackie' Bucha and a sister, Agnes Sprouse. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. in Our Mother of Sorrows Worship Site, Coates St., Bridgeport. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery of Stowe. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Mr. Bucha on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bernard S. Gutkowski Funeral Home, Inc., 305 Jefferson St., Swedesburg, Upper Merion Twp. and on Thursday morning from 9 to 9:50 a.m. at the church. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Bridgeport Police Department, P.O. Box 148, Bridgeport, PA. 19405.
